Come learn more about our lab!
Aging
is a complex trait affecting life at all levels.
The Vazquez Lab studies the extremes of lifespan to improve our understanding of human health and disease.
We study the
evolution of
aging
at its full complexity by combining computational,
experimental, and eco-evolutionary models.
The cell lines don’t collect themselves - we do.
Both in the lab
and in the field
In vitro cell culture
We use cell lines from mammals including bats, elephants, whales, rodents, and primates to study how long-lived animals escape aging-related diseases like cancer.
Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences
We teach students molecular biology, ecology, genomics, and research skills by bringing the lab to the field, and enabling them to pursue self-motivated questions on the world around them.
